Modern Slavery Statement
Last updated: 24 May 2026
1. Introduction
This statement is made under section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It sets out the steps that AfterLife Technologies Ltd has taken to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chains.
AfterLife Technologies Ltd does not currently meet the £36m turnover threshold that triggers a statutory obligation to publish a modern slavery statement. We choose to publish this statement voluntarily because we believe our customers, providers and partners should see how we approach the issue.
2. Our business and supply chain
AfterLife is a co-ordination platform for end-of-life services in the United Kingdom. Our supply chain consists of:
- Technology providers — hosting, email, payment processing, telecommunications, AI services
- Professional services — legal advisers, accountants, regulatory consultants
- Marketplace providers — independent funeral directors, mosques, synagogues, solicitors, florists, stonemasons, and others, listed on our marketplace
Most of our suppliers are UK-based. Some technology suppliers operate globally.
3. Our policies
We are committed to ensuring there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our business or supply chain. We expect our suppliers to share this commitment. Our policies include:
- Code of Conduct — applies to all employees, contractors, and partners
- Whistleblowing policy — provides a safe channel to raise concerns
- Supplier onboarding standards — we ask suppliers to confirm their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and equivalent international standards where relevant
- Recruitment and employment practices — we verify the right to work in the UK for every employee and pay at least the National Living Wage
4. Due diligence
We carry out due diligence on suppliers and partners as part of onboarding:
- Verifying company registration and trade body membership where applicable
- Requiring confirmation that suppliers comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
- Reviewing publicly available information on supplier practices
- For high-risk suppliers, requesting their own modern slavery statement or equivalent
5. Risk assessment
We have assessed our supply chain for modern slavery risk. We consider our risk to be low, because:
- Most of our supply chain is in the UK, a low-risk country per the Global Slavery Index
- The professional services and end-of-life sector are heavily regulated and require licences, accreditations or memberships of professional bodies
- Our technology suppliers are large established companies with public modern slavery statements of their own
The areas we keep under particular review are: (a) any future expansion into providers outside the UK, particularly in international repatriation; (b) any sub-contracting by our suppliers; (c) cleaning or catering services we engage as we grow.
6. Training
All employees of AfterLife Technologies Ltd receive an induction that covers modern slavery awareness, how to spot the warning signs, and how to raise a concern.
7. Reporting concerns
